- Built a label system for five flavors: character + name + tagline.
- Set the name in red and the tagline 'Chili sweet as revenge' in white.
Visual identity and label design for a line of artisan hot sauces. Bold character, memorable mascot, and provocative presentation — everything to make the bottle impossible to miss on the shelf.
The client came with a lineup of five sauces and blank bottles. The task — create a label that would distinguish the product among hundreds of competitors, convey a 'character with fire' and make people want to pick up the bottle.
The hot sauce market is oversaturated with generic labels. I needed a visual language that works as a system for the entire line, yet each flavor must have its own character. The label must grab attention from shelf distance — 2-3 meters away.
The line includes five flavors — from dark teriyaki to sweet chili. The label visual system is built on a unified structure: character + name + tagline, with color and illustration variations for each flavor.

I took the provocative route. Instead of standard photos of peppers and flames — a custom illustration with a pirate character.
The central element — a custom character in a cartoon-brutal style. A bearded man in a red bandana, with bracelets and amulets, squatting and chopping meat with a large cleaver. Around him — pieces of meat and dripping sauce. The detailed drawing creates visual depth and makes you want to examine the label up close.

The name 'Somali Sauce' is set in red letters — a reference to heat and danger. The tagline 'Chili sweet as revenge' — in white at the bottom of the label. The contrast of red and white on a dark background ensures readability and aggressive character.

A label that sells itself. Customers photograph the bottle and share on social media — the design works as free advertising. The product stands out on any shelf and is memorable at first glance.
